FM Reaffirms Jordan's solidarity with Venezuela

Amman, July 17 (Petra)-- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi held a phone call on Friday with Venezuela's newly appointed Foreign Minister Félix Plasencia, reaffirming Jordan's solidarity with Venezuela as it continues to cope with the devastating aftermath of two earthquakes that struck the capital, Caracas, and western regions of the country.

During the call, Safadi reiterated Jordan's readiness to continue supporting relief and humanitarian efforts in Venezuela under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II.

He also congratulated Plasencia on his appointment as Venezuela's foreign minister.

Plasencia expressed his gratitude for Jordan's solidarity during the crisis and praised the vital contribution of the Jordanian search and rescue team deployed to Venezuela.

The two ministers reviewed bilateral relations and reaffirmed their commitment to advancing cooperation across various sectors by implementing the necessary agreements and joint initiatives. They also discussed regional developments and efforts to de-escalate tensions and restore stability.

Under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, Jordan dispatched a 100-member search and rescue team of highly trained specialists to Venezuela on June 28, 2026. The team participated in search and relief operations for those affected by the earthquakes, while Jordan also delivered medical and humanitarian aid to help address the disaster's consequences.
